Is it necessary to have a home office? Definitelly if you are working from home. Working from home can be very tricky especially at the beginning, when one has not yet got used to working in an environment which is not work-friendly and he/she has always associated with relaxation, rest and… pizza nights.
To avoid regular trips to the fridge, non-work phonecalls, doing the laundry, couch surfing with your PJs on, it is therefore necessary to have a space that is totally separate (by walls or by decoration/style) to the rest of your comfort area. If you do not have the space for a separate room, there are still some creative ways to define your space and be able to really (and productively) use your time.
the same is true for those who work in an office and need some extra time at home to do some more research on their project or finally get those home bills together etc. You don’t want to mix your house with your work obligations, neither your work stress, for that matter.
Having worked from home for quite some time, I really insist that most of the times it is really necessary to «Shut the Door Behind you» when (and in order for it to happen) work is done.
*****And here’s Wikipedia’s definition for Working at Home (working at home scheme, to be precise). Fantastic.
A work-at-home scheme is a get-rich-quick scheme in which a victim is lured by an offer to be employed at home, very often doing some simple task in a minimal amount of time with a large amount of income that far exceeds the market rate for the type of work.
wouldn’t you love to work in a space like these?
