I was born for sunny days! (and lemon pies)

Ο Ιανουάριος μπήκε πολύ γκρίζος και συννεφιασμένος! Ακόμα κι εδώ τα σύννεφα κρέμονται από πάνω μας σαν να είναι έτοιμα να χιονίσουν (πού τέτοια τύχη)!

It is such a gray January I literally feel I’m turning blue! There have been some great sunny days but lately the sky seems to be hanging above ourselves, ready to snow!

No such luck, of course as we live on an island in the south of Greece. Our only hope of snow is….

Μόνη ελπίδα κανένα χιονισμένο γλυκάκι….

And some tea to warm our soul 🙂

Τσαγάκι ζεστό… έχω φάει κόλλημα με τη λουίζα τελευταία *και την τσουκνίδα που με συμβούλευσε μια καλή μου φίλη πως ανεβάζει το σίδηρο 😉

Travel makes your mind happy!

I’m a little bit obsessed with travel lately as I am planning a new and exciting project with a friend of mine! Promise I’ll share all the details soon!!! In the meanwhile I just wanted to share with you images that make me drool with wanderlust and creative energy!!!  Arent’ these maps and illustrations just wonderful???

I discovered super talented artists such as Martin Haake,  Migy, Princess CamCam, Antoine Corbineau,  Ilustrista and the very inspiring Eleni Tsakmaki !

We love Greek islands!!! (esp. the Dodecanese) :)

Μπορεί να βρισκόμαστε σε ύφεση και τα εισιτήρια να εξακολουθούν να είναι πανάκριβα αν δε θες να ταξιδέψεις αποκλειστικά μεταξύ Αθήνας και Θεσσαλονίκης, αλλά τα ελληνικά νησιά είναι και θα είναι πάντα ο παράδεισος που ονειρευόμαστε!!!

Σε συνεργασία με τη Dodekanisos Seaways, τη ναυτιλιακή εταιρεία που δραστηριοποιείται εδώ και χρόνια στη δωδεκανησιακή ακτοπλοΐα εκδίδουμε για 5η (!!!) συνεχή χρονιά τον οδηγό προορισμών για τα αγαπημένα μας Δωδεκάνησα. Η μεγαλύτερη δυσκολία ήταν να καταφέρουμε να αποδώσουμε με τα κείμενα και τις φωτογραφίες τη μοναδική ομορφιά των  νησιών μας και να μεταδώσουμε στον επισκέπτη και αναγνώστη την αγάπη μας γι’ αυτό τον τόπο που μπορεί να είναι «ευλογημένος» από τη φύση αλλά είναι συχνά παραμελημένος από τον ανθρώπινο παράγοντα.

η απόλαυση είναι διπλή όταν βλέπεις τη δουλειά σου να γίνεται κάτι όμορφο και ταυτόχρονα χρηστικό, μια δουλειά που αναδεικνύει την υπέροχη ιδιαίτερη πατρίδα μας και βοηθάει τον επισκέπτη να τη γνωρίσει και να αγαπήσει κάθε βράχο, λιμάνι και χωριουδάκι της!

Ίσως φέτος το μόνο που θα καταφέρουμε να είναι να τον ξεφυλλίσουμε και να ταξιδέψουμε νοερά, το σίγουρο όμως είναι ότι θα θαυμάσουμε τη μοναδική ομορφιά και την ξεχωριστή μαγεία του κάθε νησιού:

από τη μοναδική αρχιτεκτονική επιβλητικότητα της Σύμης στο απέραντο γαλάζιο της Χάλκης, το κόκκινο της πέτρας και του ηφαστείου της Νισύρου, την ιστορία της Κω, την άγρια φύση της Καλύμνου, τη γραφική κατάνυξη της Πάτμου, το πράσινο και τα αρώματα της Τήλου, τη μοναδική απλότητα της Λέρου και την ανόθευτη ομορφιά των Αρκιών, των Λειψών και του Αγαθονησίου, τα νησιά μας είναι η περιουσία μας, η παράδοση και η κληρονομιά μας. Ας τα φροντίσουμε και ας τα αναδείξουμε όπως τους αξίζει!!!

Because sometimes you need a little glamour on your bookshelf!

 

I’d really love to read some of those if only to gain an insight into those beautiful women’s lives and see what else was going on there besides fashion, parties and photographers.

Casual Friday with a lovely blog

By the lovely Nice things blog by Maro which I discovered (or it discovered me) – we seem to like the same things and it’s so funny and sweet! 🙂

 

ανακάλυψα (ή με ανακάλυψε, όπως το δει κανείς) ένα πολύ ωραίο μπλογκ, το Nice things. Έχει ένα σωρό φωτογραφίες που αρέσουν και σε μένα, ενδιαφέροντα θέματα και πάει τέλεια με πρωινό καφεδάκι!

Και επειδή έχω κι άλλα όμορφα μπλογκ που παρακολουθώ λέω να κάνω σύντομα μια μίνι λίστα με τα αγαπημένα μου! Στείλτε ιδέες!!!

Coffee break

My coffee in hand and a few minutes to spare, i dive deep in the world of blogs that take me places and inspire me.

The first stop was A Cup of Jo which took me across to delicious  Dinner a Love Story . Jenny, who has written herself a lovely book, too, suggested the I Hate to Cook book, for those who have no time and no inspiration for cooking.

Next came The Senses Five  which caught my eye with her shoe disaster (seriously how can you lose most of your shoes and stay so calm?)

Also from Jo I found this  great advice on how to pack like a fashion editor

I couldn’t resist a stop at The Sartorialist, where i spotted this classy lady – I have the same sunglasses but I think I have to sweat it to look so simply stylish *sigh. 

And now I am going back to work, translating a book on glamorous ladies competing for a prince and a crown!
